    March 2, 2010 (Duluth, GA) – 12 SEC women’s basketball teams will compete for the SEC Championship title at the Arena at Gwinnett Center, March 4-7, 2010. Gwinnett Board of Commissioners Chairman, Charles Bannister, has signed a proclamation declaring March 4-7, 2010 as SEC Week in Gwinnett County.

     

    Competing teams include University of Tennessee, University of Georgia, Louisiana State University, Vanderbilt University, University of Kentucky, Ole Miss, University of Alabama, University of South Carolina, University of Florida, University of Arkansas, Auburn University and 2009 SEC defending champions, Mississippi State University.

     

    “We are ecstatic to host the SEC Women’s Basketball Championships for the second time. This is a high-quality event that generates a substantial economic impact to our local economy,” says Rob Patton, Gwinnett Sports Commission Sports Marketing Director. 3,500 hotel room nights will be generated from this event, with many area hotels sold out for the entire week.

     

    “We are so proud to have March 4-7 designated as SEC Week in Gwinnett. We really want everyone in the community to get behind this event and support it,” Patton says.

     

    Ticket prices range from $12-$17. Tickets for all games are available at the Arena Box Office or through Ticketmaster 404-849-6400 (www.ticketmaster.com). The Arena at Gwinnett Center is located at 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth, GA 30097 (770-813-7600).

     

    In celebration of SEC Week, select local sports bars will be offering discounts when fans show a ticket stub from the game. Participating merchants include Dave & Buster’s Gwinnett (770-497-1152), Dave & Buster’s Sugarloaf (678-847-5400), Arena Tavern (770-623-4585), Sidelines Grill (770-814-9694) and Tailgaters Alley at Discover Mills Mall 678-584-9688. The games will be televised on Fox Sports Network (FSN), ESPNU and ESPN2.
