GWINNETT CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU (GCVB) and GWINNETT SPORTS COMMISSION ANNOUNCE PROMOTION AND NEW HIRE

(December 7, 2011) Duluth, GA - The Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Gwinnett Sports Commission are pleased to announce that they have named Stan L. Hall to the position of Executive Director of the Gwinnett Sports Commission. Lisa Anders, current Deputy Director of the GCVB, has been promoted to Executive Director of the GCVB.

Anders, who has been with the GCVB for 15 years, will oversee all day-to-day operations, sales and marketing of the 11-person GCVB, Gwinnett's official destination marketing organization. Hall joins the Gwinnett Sports Commission after spending 34 years with Gwinnett County. "We feel fortunate to have someone of Stan's caliber join us; his years of leadership, established contracts and extraordinary public speaking skills will be the catalyst to helping us take sports to the next level in Gwinnett," said Preston Williams, CEO of both GCVB/Gwinnett Center.

The Gwinnett Sports Commission's mission is to foster economic development through coordinating and developing Gwinnett's role as a leading site for sports events involving youth, collegiate, amateur and professional organizations, ranging from regional soccer, lacrosse or cheerleading to NCAA-level events.

Our primary focus over the next few years will be "developing long-term business; emphasis on events generating overnight rooms for Gwinnett's hotels and development of a regional sports partnership and additional multi-purpose sports facilities," explains Williams. Hall will join the GCVB on January 1, 2012.

The Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau is a non-profit destination marketing organization dedicated to promoting Gwinnett County as an overnight destination, creating positive economic impact for Gwinnett County; marketing the Gwinnett Center and the Arena at Gwinnett Center, and running the Gwinnett Sports Commission.
