Two-day Georgia Heritage Hub and Spoke Itinerary

Morning

Enjoy a relaxing breakfast at your hotel or dine at Cracker Barrel in Suwanee or Norcross. Cracker Barrel offers a group gift card program.


 

Afternoon

Tour Georgia's Stone Mountain Park, 3,300 acres of Civil War history, heritage and charm. Groups won't want to miss the War in Georgia museum and the Antebellum Plantation homes. Experience history at the 1870's town of Crossroads, where skilled crafters and knowledgeable townfolk give you a taste of Georgia's heritage. At the foot of Stone Mountain, enjoy a guided walking tour of Stone Mountain Village's 275 homes, shops and businesses, all named to the National Register of Historic Places. Enjoy the Ride the Ducks experience, a war-era boat ride.


 

Dinner

Nearby choices include the Village Basket and Bakery; or head into Atlanta to try out Wolfgang Puck's Café Aquaria at the Georgia Aquarium; murder, mystery and a meal at Agatha's Mystery Dinner Theater or the Southern delicacies at Mary Mac's Tea Room or Pitty Pat's Porch.


 

Day Two/Morning

Head 45 minutes east to historic Madison for a home tour of pre Civil War and Victorian homes, as well as its tastefully restored downtown, offering a wide range of shops, tastes and sights.


 

Afternoon

Lunch at the Blue Willow Inn the magnificent Greek Revival mansion where you will have the feeling of dining in the antebellum South in its glorious past. "To die for Southern Fried Chicken" and nationally acclaimed fried green tomatoes are necessary for each guest. After lunch, tour the William Harris Homestead, an original antebellum plantation home open for easy walking tours.


 

Evening

Take it easy after a busy weekend. Stroll the shops, galleries and boutiques of the historic downtowns in either Historic Norcross, Duluth, Buford, Suwanee or downtown Lawrenceville. Then close out a busy day with a delicious meal at Dominick's, Norcross Station Café or Aqua Terra Bistro in Buford.
