City of Suwanee

Named a 2003 City of Excellence, Suwanee is a great place to live, work, and play. Nearly 11,000 people call Suwanee "home."

A vibrant community, Suwanee is working to revitalize its historic Old Town area while at the same time creating a new Town Center, preserving open space, and building several new parks.

Along Main Street in historic Old Town, a Gwinnett County Public Library branch is scheduled to open in fall 2004, shortly after community volunteers build a new super playground nearby. Among the quaint shops are Ambiance Interiors, a regionally known home decor shop, and Marbelline's, where you can find antique treasures and regional crafts. While in Old Town, the kids might enjoy an imaginary trip on Suwanee's red caboose.

Through its award-winning open space program, Suwanee has acquired more than 200 acres of property to be preserved as open space or developed as parks.. Suwanee is creating a passive recreation area at Suwanee Creek Park, which also serves as the trailhead to Suwanee's three-mile Suwanee Creek Greenway.

The new Town Center Park serves as the primary community-gathering place and a downtown-style park with lots of open space and paved walkways, ideal for walking or jogging, kite-flying or frisbee-throwing. Concert series, movies, and other events, including Suwanee's annual fall festival, are hosted at Town Center Park.
